Dr. Ula Khayyat, PhD, Clinical & Forensic Psychologist

Role at OWPC: Clinical & Forensic Psychologist

Hi! I’m Dr. Ula Khayyat, a Registered Clinical and Forensic Psychologist. I provide psychodiagnostic assessments to individuals (18+) who are struggling with various mental health concerns and deterioration in functioning.

Is this you?

Maybe you have noticed a recent change in your mental health, or maybe you have been struggling with an issue for years. You might be feeling overwhelmed, trapped in your thoughts, lack control over your behaviour, or no longer able to function in your day-to-day life. You might also not understand your symptoms or how to manage them effectively. You probably want to learn about your condition, and what you could do to start your recovery process.

What is my approach?

I take a very thorough and holistic approach to assessment. I begin by reviewing referral information and health records. Subsequently, I conduct a clinical interview to better understand your mental health history, presenting problem, and current functioning. Based on clinical findings, additional testing may be recommended as needed. This may include administering standardized questionnaire and/or collecting collateral information. Once all these steps of the assessment have been completed, we’ll meet to discuss any political diagnoses and treatment recommendations.

What is my experience?

I have completed my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Windsor. I also declared competency in Forensic Psychology through additional training. I have worked in diverse clinical settings, including hospitals, correctional institutions, and private practice.

Areas that can be assessed include:

  • Generalized and social anxiety

  • Panic disorder

  • Depressive disorders

  • Trauma & PTSD

  • Obsessive thoughts & compulsive behaviors

  • Low self-esteem

  • Perfectionism

  • Communication issues & assertiveness

  • Anger management

  • Interpersonal difficulties

  • Grief & loss

  • Substance use disorders

  • Personality disorders

  • ADHD

Because our assessments are conducted virtually, I’m not able to do any cognitive or academic testing. If warranted, a referral to your local in-person clinic will be completed. Other assessments that fall outside my scope of practice include assessments for the purposes of parenting capacity, neurological assessments, or assessments for individuals under the age of 18.
