What Does Therapy Look Like at OWPC?

You would meet with one of our friendly and experienced therapists (either a psychologist or registered social worker) for regular virtual therapy sessions. During these appointments, your therapist would work with you to:

  • Better understand how anxiety works

  • Challenge unwritten rules that your anxiety has created (e.g., “it’s bad to make mistakes”)

  • Reduce avoidance/Face fears through exposures and behavioural experiments

  • Learn to calm your body (e.g., breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation)

  • Build a meaningful life where you can do the things you truly enjoy

We use research-backed approaches that have been found to be effective for many, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Exposure and Response Prevention (E/RP).
