Joanna Zambrzycka is in the final stages of completing her Ph.D. in the School and Clinical Child Psychology program at the University of Toronto/OISE. Joanna completed her pre-doctoral clinical residency at Hamilton Health Sciences where she provided comprehensive assessments, treatment, and consultation for children, youth, and families experiencing a range of difficulties (anxiety, mood, behavioural, learning, social, emotion regulation) in both inpatient and outpatient settings. While on residency, Joanna also completed a rotation in the Pediatric Eating Disorders Program at McMaster Children’s Hospital where she provided Family Based Treatment (FBT) for youth struggling with disordered eating and body image concerns.

Joanna has also received training at the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB), the Child Advocacy and Assessment Program (CAAP) at McMaster Children’s Hospital, the OISE Psychology Clinic, and Kinark Child and Family Services. Depending on her client’s individual needs, Joanna draws from a variety of therapeutic orientations, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and emotion-focused techniques in order to best support her clients and meet their treatment goals.

Joanna is passionate about using a collaborative approach in her work with youth and their families, focusing on her client’s strengths and utilizing them in treatment, and providing a safe space where clients feel heard.
