Virtual EMDR Therapy for Ontario Residents
What is EMDR?
EMDR, which stands for “Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing,” is a form of psychotherapy that can be used to treat mental health problems such as trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, panic and phobias. In EMDR therapy, a trained therapist helps you access and reprocess traumatic memories and other adverse life experiences to bring these to an adaptive resolution. The reprocessing of distressing events/memories is done in a structured format to help you see things from a more helpful perspective and relieve related symptoms.
Can EMDR be done virtually?
Yes! EMDR can be done virtually and research suggests that EMDR delivered online is as effective EMDR offered in-person (Liou et al., 2022). EMDR can also be integrated with other evidence-based therapies, like Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), to best meet your needs.
At the Ontario-wide Psychology Clinic, our team of warm and experienced therapists can provide EMDR therapy virtually to adults living anywhere in Ontario, Canada (e.g., Ottawa, Toronto, Hamilton, Guelph).
