Anita Bazargan, Clinical Therapist

CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS

Role at OWPC: Clinical Therapist

Hi! I’m Anita, a therapist working under the supervision of Dr. Chang, PhD, C. Psych.

I offer an authentic and safe space, providing evidence-based therapy to school-aged children and  adolescents (aged 8-17) who are struggling with generalized anxiety, social anxiety, separation  anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, low self-esteem, and body image concerns. I also work with parents  and caregivers who are wanting to learn ways to better support their child. My approach is genuine, compassionate, and direct.

Parenting can be incredibly challenging to navigate at times, especially in difficult moments. Parents  may struggle with feelings of guilt, confusion, and helplessness when their child experiences symptoms like mood swings, anxiety, withdrawal, or experiences changes in their behaviour and academic performance.  It can be helpful to have support as you look to make a significant difference in your child’s life. I am here to empower and support you in raising a resilient child.

What will our work together look like?

In working with children, adolescents, and their parents I use evidence-based approaches including  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions). Treatment is personalized to meet you where  you are, and typically involves both individual work with the child/teen and parent work. I strive to create an  environment in which my clients feel truly listened to, deeply seen, and embraced for who they are.

What’s my experience?

I am completing my Master of Psychology (Clinical and Counselling Psychology) at Adler Graduate  Professional School with a focus on the psychopathology of childhood and adolescents and trauma. I completed my Honours Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto.

Outside of work with OWPC, I enjoy spending time with my children, family, and friends (including my Doberman and tabby cat) as well as trying out new places to eat around the city.

While every family is unique, some common concerns of those that I work with include:

  • Generalized anxiety

  • Social anxiety

  • Separation anxiety

  • Low self esteem

  • Body image concerns

  • OCD

  • Parenting challenges

Client Focus: Children and Adolescents (ages 8 - 17) and Parents

Types of Therapy Offered: CBT, EFFT, SPACE

I invite you to connect with me to work collaboratively on your child’s wellness journey.
