Hi! I’m Chrissy Court, a Registered Social Worker/ Psychotherapist. I provide therapy to individuals +16 who are experiencing life transitions, anxiety, panic, depression, low self-esteem, grief/loss, and interpersonal issues. My goal is to guide you on your journey towards healing and to empower you to take charge of your own life.

Is this you?
Perhaps you’re feeling overwhelmed, struggling to set boundaries, and/or noticing yourself stuck in old patterns that prevent you from living your life in the ways that would bring you the most fulfillment. Maybe you’ve had some changes, events, or traumas in your life that have impacted how you view yourself and those around you and led you to become more guarded/cautious in your day to day activities or relationships. Or maybe you're experiencing feelings of anxiety or sadness that are making it difficult for you to recognize your self-worth and be fully present in your everyday life.

What is my approach?
I provide a safe space free of judgement or expectations where you can just be you. I am the sounding board for you to be able to work through the stressors in your life. You set your goals and I support you in achieving them. My role is to help you get to the place in your life where you want to be. I use a client-directed approach and use evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (mCBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and have specialized training in Trauma Therapy. Rather than using a “one size fits all” approach, I draw from a variety of methods to create an individualized plan for each person and their unique situation. As a social worker/psychotherapist, I am warm, open, encouraging, and direct. I consider myself an active practitioner, combining experience, education, creativity, and sense of humour with a down-to-earth, realistic approach to counselling.

What is my experience?
I received my BSW at the Vancouver Island University and subsequently completed my MSW at the University of Waterloo. I have also received specialized training through McMaster University in Addictions and Trauma Therapy at Laurier University. I have been working within the social service field for over 25 years.

Those who find my services most helpful struggle with:

  • Life Transitions

  • Generalized and/or Social Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Self-Esteem and Assertiveness

  • Historical Trauma

  • Grief and Loss

  • Chronic Pain

How will we work together?
In working with clients, my goal is to help you find the strengths and abilities that are already within you and use those to overcome barriers and reclaim your life as you always wanted it to be. We will explore what your goals are and remind you that you are the expert of your own life. I will help you develop tools and strategies with empathy and compassion for you to succeed. You deserve the opportunity to learn to love and respect yourself and to set boundaries in place for others to respect you as well. I would be happy to support you on your journey.

Please feel free to connect with me for a free 15-minute session to see if I would be the right fit for you or make an appointment if you would like to get straight to work on being all that you want to be.

Hourly Rate: $175.
