Role at OWPC: Registered Social Worker/Clinical Therapist
Hi! I’m Alannah, a Registered Social Worker. I provide therapy to young adults (up to 30 years old) who are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and life transitions.
Is this you?
Maybe you’ve tried therapy before but the experience wasn’t what you hoped it would be. Or maybe just the thought of reaching out overwhelms you. I work with individuals who often carry heavy emotions beneath the surface but haven’t always had the space or support to explore them. If you’ve ever felt like therapy wasn’t built with you in mind, you’re not alone. You don’t need to have the perfect words or a clear plan to begin. Showing up is enough. Wherever you are in your journey, we’ll take it from there, together.
What is my approach?
My approach is all about creating a collaborative space where your autonomy is prioritized. I believe that each person’s journey is unique, and that’s why I centre my approach around your specific needs. Think of our sessions as a dedicated platform to explore what truly matters to you, and to set goals that I’m genuinely invested in helping you achieve. In this process, my role is to be your biggest supporter, all while entrusting you with control over your own path.
I bring my full self into this work, including compassion, genuine curiosity about who you are, and, when it fits, a good sense of humour. Therapy can be deep and emotional, but it can also include laughter, lightness, and moments of relief.
We’ll make space for all of it. Together, we’ll untangle the patterns that are showing up and explore new ways of coping and moving through the world that feel more aligned with who you are. I check in regularly to make sure our work is resonating and evolving with your needs. This space is yours, and I’m here to honour that every step of the way.
What is my Experience?
I hold a Master of Social Work from King’s University College, and an undergraduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Brock University. I’ve also completed training in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS).
My professional journey spans inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, schools, community programs, and research environments. These experiences have shaped my holistic, person-centered approach. I’ve supported many clients through their first therapy experience, focusing on clear communication, trust, and authentic connection from the very start. I’m deeply committed to ongoing learning and professional growth to continuously strengthen my practice.
Those who find my services most helpful struggle with:
Generalized anxiety and overthinking
Social anxiety
Panic attacks
Depression and persistent low mood
Low motivation
Hesitant to start therapy
Self-harm and emotional dysregulation
Life transitions (e.g., starting university, moving, career changes)
Low self-esteem and identity concerns,
Navigating breakups and relationship struggles
Difficulty setting and maintaining boundaries
How will we work together?
Therapy with me is a space where you can be real, messy and unsure; it’s a place where you can learn to trust that your needs will always be met with compassion and care. We’ll start by exploring what’s bringing you in and what you hope to get out of therapy. I’ll walk alongside you, offering tools and perspectives to support your growth while always centring you, your lived experience, your pace, and your goals.
