Role at OWPC: Registered Social Worker/Clinical Therapist

Hi! I’m Alannah, a Registered Social Worker. I provide individual therapy to young adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, self-harm, emotion dysregulation, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.

Is this you?
Are you someone who has been facing the weight of anxiety, battling with moments of depression, caught in endless cycles of overthinking, and grappling with persistent feelings of low mood that cast a shadow over your day-to-day life? Are these thoughts and emotions not only affecting your ability to fully engage in the present moment, but also influencing your relationships, impacting your motivation, altering your perception of self-worth, and shaping your outlook on the world around you?

If so, please know that I’m here to support you. Together we can unpack these thoughts, uncover your unique strengths and goals, and we’ll work collaboratively to equip you with effective tools to navigate and manage your emotions, fostering a more positive and empowered way of living.

What is my Approach?
My approach is all about creating a collaborative space where your autonomy is valued. I believe that each person’s journey is unique, and that’s why I center my approach around your specific needs. Think of our sessions as a dedicated platform to explore what truly matters to you, and to set goals that I’m genuinely invested in helping you achieve. In this process, my role is to be your biggest supporter, all while entrusting you with control over your own path.

What is my Experience?
I completed my Master of Social Work at King’s University College and hold an undergraduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Brock University. I’ve completed training in evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, Collaborative Assessment Management of Suicidality, and ACT.

Those who find my services most helpful struggle with:

  • Anxiety (e.g., generalized worries, social anxiety, panic attacks, etc)

  • Depression

  • General life transitions and stressors

  • Thoughts of self harm

  • Low self-esteem

  • Difficulty managing emotions

  • Relationship difficulties
