Role at OWPC: Registered Social Worker/Clinical Therapist

Hi! I'm Alannah, a Registered Social Worker supporting adolescents 13+. I work with young people who are navigating anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts and pressures of everyday life.

Sometimes emotions can feel heavy, confusing, or just too much to carry on your own. Finding the words can be hard, especially when you’re not sure where to start. My role is to offer a space where those emotions can be explored with care, curiosity, and support.

What our work together will look like:

I aim to create a space where you can show up as you are. I bring compassion, curiosity, and a sense of humour when it fits. Our work will focus on what matters most to you, at your pace. Our work might include learning coping strategies, unpacking difficult emotions, building insight, or just having a space to be heard and seen.

I use a mix of approaches including creativity, psychoeducation, and skills-based strategies. My goal is to help make therapy feel engaging and useful.  I tailor therapy to meet your needs and goals, using approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS).

My Experience:

I hold a Master of Social Work from King’s University College, and an undergraduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Brock University. My training in CBT, DBT, ACT, and CAMS helps guide my approach in a grounded, evidence-informed way.

I’ve supported youth in hospital settings (inpatient and outpatient), schools, research spaces, and community programs. These experiences shape my person-centred approach and my commitment to creating strong, trusting therapeutic relationships. Ongoing learning is a core part of how I stay present, responsive, and accountable in this work.

While every family is unique, some common concerns of those that I work with include:
